like a blade of grass
01.16.17 Pasadena
like a blade of grass,
I stand tall;
I raise my arms
to drink the light,
to feel the beat.
like a blade of grass
I look up and around
following the cadence
the music – the time
dropping dripping gaiety
under the sun.
the times the sun struggles
it is always first a kiss,
a drop, then, torrents, until
I can’t stand tall;
I sway and look up
to a blurry vision
I am lost.
I continue to sway,
hold tight to my roots,
to time vanishing.
I am tired.
I knew if I let my spirit leap
from behind this dark shadow,
my roots will sustain me
and time will find me.
the torrents come down
to scream a loud whisper,
unnerve smiles hidden,
buried deep in blurry visions,
smiles at the edge of time.
like a blade of grass, I am.
